Has anyone given any thought to creating a way to 'minimize' the Lansweeper tool down into a 'computer search' - 'User search' _ and 'software search' bar that you could dock?
I find myself constantly resizing the tool to fit my screens. I'd like to be able to dock the search functions into my exitisting browser.
thanks!
Dennis

You can also do this in mozilla with LS 4.0.
Browse to Here and download that add-on for mozilla.
Go to your lansweeper site and right click on the search bar and choose; Add to search bar.
You'll get the same result as in the screenshot.

You can also go to this MS website
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/en-en/default.mspx
In the yellow box, it has instructions to open another tab and in the lansweeper you search for TEST, and copy the URL and paste it in the yellow box, give it a name and click install.
URL:
http://lansweeperserver/default.aspx?item=quicksearch&q=TEST
This is pretty much the same thing, and you can download the XML file it generates too.
It's pretty nice to have that lansweeper search in IE 7-8

in IE7 + IE8 you can define your own searches !!
For User:
http://your server/default.aspx?username=TEST&item=searchuser
For Computer:
http://your server/default.aspx?comp=TEST&item=compsearch
For Software:
http://your server/default.aspx?software=TEST&item=searchsoftware
The Search String must be TEST, ie changes it in your searchstring wehn use
this is sample xml code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <OpenSearchDescription xmlns="http://a9.com/-/spec/opensearch/1.1/">
<ShortName>Sweepme - Software</ShortName>
<Description>Sweepme - Software provider</Description>
<InputEncoding>UTF-8</InputEncoding>
<Url type="text/html" template="http://sweepme/default.aspx?software={searchTerms}&item=searchsoftware" />
</OpenSearchDescription>

Yep, I know what you mean there. That would also be cool. I was thinking more along the lines of a gadget you could peel off the Lansweeper site so you could then simply 'extract' away the search functions of Lansweeper and have them docked off in a corner, out of the way, until needed. Also giving you the abilty to add the gadget to internal 'tools' pages IT folks often have.
Just some ideas...
thanks!

Maybe if should look more like the firefox search bar where you see the icons in front of the results and a short summary.

Exactly!
Once the tool is off and scanning the day to day uses (at least for me) go through the search features at the top of the page.

So kind of like a Google Toolbar, you just want a Lansweeper Toolbar? That would be a good idea, just not sure if I would truly use it.
