I try to install Lansweeper 3.5 in virtual environment (Win 2k3 SP2, .NET 2) SQL is located at Win XP SP3, 2005 Express, TCP/IP and Named Pipes enabled. It clean installed.
Now I try to install LS to Win 2k SP4, in page "Lansweeper Database Configuration" write identical (as in Win 2k3) data. LS tell that TCP/IP or Named Pipe is not enabled. Trying to install to 2000 SQL - tell "Error while trying to get SQL Edition. Reason: Interface not supported".
Auth data are valid in both case, various scheme (SQL auth and Windows auth) not help.
Sniffing traffic show that from Win2k3 LS setup connect to ports >1024, from Win2K setup connect to SQL host via SMB to named pipes sql\sqlexpress.
What to do to install Ls to Win2k ?

cvaleriy, please let as know if, by installing MDAC v.2.81 on the Win 2000 machine, your problem is solved!

As a quick note: Lansweeper service does not work on windows 2000, all other component should work fine.

In order to install lansweeper in Windows 2000 environment, having SQL Server located on a different machine, you have to install latest Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) on that Win 2000 machine. I recommend you MDAC 2.8 SP1.
Also, make sure you specify the instance name in lansweeper wizard, eg HOST\SQLEXPRESS.

Could you post the error log from the installer please (should be in the temp folder while installing)

Reinstall MS SQL, now LS setup wrote "Error while trying to get SQL Edition. Reason: Interface not supported", then "Setup has detected that the currently logged user does not have enough rights... ". Try to auth win auth scheme and sql auth scheme - message are identical.
