Hi,
Can Lansweeper exist on a server that also is being used as a Caching Server? We are running Microsoft ISA 2004 with mostly default options. The firewall feature inside of ISA is turned off.
Here is what I'm experiencing.
lansweeper is reporting that it is only seeing 9 computers and two servers.
216 computers have "The RPC server is unavailable 0x800706BA" including 4 other servers.
Firewall is off, WMIrepair has been run on several computers, no additional firewall software on the computers.
No noticeable WINS or DNS issues.
Running the Connection Tester results from the computer to the lansweeper server:
Remote WMI test
-----------------------------------------------
\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test FAILED
The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
Remote Registry test using WMI
-----------------------------------------------
\root\default Remote WMI access test FAILED
The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
Any help is appreciated!

Well, after installing Lansweeper on another server, the results have led me to believe that Microsoft ISA 2004 is somehow blocking the necessary functions from working. I would have tried the MS patch that you mentioned, but the clients that have problems are both XP PCs (at both SP2 and SP3) and Server 2003 servers. That patch doesn't work on servers, so I decided to install Lansweeper on a different server and it works flawlessly.

Could you try the XP patch mentioned on one of the affected computers.

From the server to the client, the connection tester results are as posted above for NetBIOS name and FQDN and IP

You ran the connectiontester from the server to the client right?
Did you try on fqdn name?

Telnet from client computer to lansweeper server was successful... and vice versa.
telnet xxxx-if-inst4 135 and telnet xxxx-07-212 135
The screen blanked out! 🙂

Could you try telnetting to port 135.
This way you are sure that no firewall is blocking access.
