The Lansweeper setup went fine. I had to install SQL express, dotnet and add IIS to a bare server. I added a logon script to the netlogon folder and configured AD to execute this during logon. From the configuration console I can see machines populating the database. When I try to open the Lansweeper website it fails with a 404 error, page or directory cannot be found.
I installed lansweeper website as the default website and have no other websites on the box.
This installation is on a windows server 2003 r2 standard x64.
I have tried several installations including a virtual directory. I have even copied all the files from c:\program files\lansweeper\website into the default web folder c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ and still get page not found.
Any light that could be shed would be most helpful.
Thank you,

Actually, I think we found the problem.
In IIS control panel, there is an option for permitting/denying certain extensions for executables. By default, ASP (and ASPX) seems to be turned off.
We turned it on, then got an error message that the application could not write to the temporary directory for ASP files, and had to grant those permissions to the appropriate system user.
Now it works.
Perhaps the Install could check that IIS permits the extensions used in the web console and either fix it or print an alert to the admin doing the install???
(of course this probably only occurs when installing on a machine that hasn't been used as an actual webserver before -- if you run an actual website on MS IIS, presumably you would already have needed to enable asp/aspx extension 🙂 )

We have exactly the same problem.
As a test, I created a file test.html in the root directory of the Lansweeper Web Console, and I can access this file by calling http://servername/lansweeper/test.html. However, http://servername/lansweeper/ or http://servername/lansweeper/default.aspx produces the Page not Found error message.
I suspect that for some reason the default.aspx does not succeed in loading/calling the default.aspx.vb which is referenced in it but being a Linux guy I know too little about either IIS or MS programming languages.

Is there a way we can remote control your server, we still haven't been able to reproduce this problem.

Could you take a look at which port your IIS is running?

Could you post some screenshots from your IIS configuration and your IE screen please.
