Engaged Sweeper III

With 12.5.2.3 it brought with it 2 new asset states, Disposed and Retired.

When an asset is put into these states does it still use a licence, or do they not count towards the licence count?

We have been putting our old devices which have been replaced into the non-active state and have set Lansweeper to cleanup assets after 1 year of no activity. This allows us to have some history of the old device for a year, but it would be nice if we could keep them forever, or for a lot longer or until we manually removed retired assets. As we are using the non-active state we are having to purchase licences for devices which we no-longer own.

It would be good if these new assets states didn't take up a licence, but I guess that's not good for business.

Also, if a device is put into these states, if for whatever reason it gets scanned again, will it be automatically marked as active, like when using the non-active state?

Hello there!

Yes, assets with asset state Disposed or Retired still count towards your asset limit. For more information, you can refer to this KB article: https://community.lansweeper.com/t5/billing-related-questions/assets-that-count-toward-your-licensed...

Thanks.

I know it has been asked of many times but the system really does need a way to archive assets and it not count towards your licence limit.
