Ok, I think the problems are more WMI/RPC issues that I need to resolve first.
Test connection gives the usual dreaded problems:-
DNS test
-----------------------------------------------
Is this the correct remote IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
If not, please check for DNS problems
\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test FAILED
The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
Remote WMI test
-----------------------------------------------
\root\cimv2 Remote WMI access test FAILED
The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
Remote Registry test using WMI
-----------------------------------------------
\root\default Remote WMI access test FAILED
The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)
So I've completely disabled the firewall to rule out any issues in the client (the above run from server on different subnet - will this report ok if any issues on subnet firewall)?
Have set the dcomcnfg firstly to administrators full access and then everyone.
Have specified the local administrator and password, still no joy.
So what next?
A bit stumped at the moment.
