WIndows 2008 server 64 Bit.

Runnin IIS7

Tried to follow the documentation here:
http://www.lansweeper.com/kb/restrict.aspx

After I did all prescribed, the webconsole no longer works.

I had backed up the web.config file and restored it.
REturned everything back to "anonymous" logins.

Still nothing.

Ultradev no longer lists the name of my server.
If I do a "diagnose error" in IE, it states that the website is "Refusing connection".

Any thoughts?

I not only need to limit access to certain AD groups, but I also need to have this actually working.

thanks in advance!
Dave

Thank you, the advanced install didnt' resolve the issue.
I uninstalled IIS and reinstalled the program. The documentation doesn't state anything about "Your web console should be installed under either IIS or UltiDev, not both at the same time"

The documentation states, "Web server configuration

First you must make sure that your web server is configured correctly. The exact procedure depends on whether you are using IIS, IIS Express or the default UltiDev web server. If you are unsure whether you have a full or Express version of IIS, check your task manager processes. IIS Express will be listed as IISexpress.exe."

For future reference, since you state that the website can't be on IIS and UltiDev on the same time, how can I tell where it is installed? The site shows up in BOTH places.

You might want to add that to the documentation.

thanks

If you performed a default installation, it should not. Are you certain that the website you are seeing in IIS is a Lansweeper website? The only way the website can be present in both web servers is if you first performed a full Lansweeper installation with a website under one web server and then did an advanced install of just the website under a different web server. Either that or an old website was left behind in IIS/UltiDev from a previous Lansweeper installation.

If you perform a default Lansweeper installation, your website will always be installed under UltiDev, not IIS. IIS website installations are for advanced users who have a specific need for this web server.

The knowledge base mentions a "web server" not "servers" and states that the procedure you should follow depends on whether you are using IIS, IIS Express or the default UltiDev web server (one of these options). We'll try to make the phrasing clearer, but we're not sure why one would assume that the website would be present under two web servers.

Your web console should be installed under either IIS or UltiDev, not both at the same time. Your screenshot indicates that it is installed under UltiDev, so you should not have made any changes to IIS. If you did make changes to IIS, please clarify what you did.

Your screenshot does show that your website is not operational, as it should be marked in green, not grey. Is it possible that some other application is making use of the website's port? You can install a fresh copy of the website under a different port by doing the following:
- Run the Lansweeper installer again.
- Choose New Installation/Advanced Install.
- Select only the website for reinstallation.

No changes will be made to your database.
