What does Not Scanned indicate (besides the obvious...)

I've attached a pic of what I am referring to but basically when I'm looking at the front page at the list of Operating Systems it shows me the counts for each operating system but then it has a line that says 279 Not Scanned.

My questions...

1) Does that mean that there are 279 pieces of equipment in the domain that aren't already being counted in the other OS counts. To make that clearer (maybe) is it possible that I have 279 more 2003 Servers out there than what I show in the count for 2003 servers?

2) How can I tell what 279 pieces weren't scanned?

1) yes, it's possible that you have 279 more 2003 servers.
2) On the main page you have 2 reports (never scanned software, never scanned OS)
These computers will appear in red.
