We run into situations where licensing of a software may cross multiple versions (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, etc..). Currently there are a couple issues with the software licensing I see. One, it's simply looking at the installations, not necessarily what machine it is installed on. For example, if I have AutoCAD 2016, 2019, and 2020 all installed on the same workstation, it sees that as 3 licenses required. Secondly, how does it account for (or maybe it doesn't) situations where we are licensing on a per-named-user subscription basis (AutoCAD recently changed to this and our Adobe Acrobat Pro and Creative Suite products do this). In this situation, the software can be installed anywhere and the access is controlled by a user login process when accessing the software.
