Hi everyone,

We're getting errors on all our Dell assets when scanning for warranty.

It returns the following error:
Connection error (elapsed time: .3744000): The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

I found this knowledgebase which dates back to 2015:
https://www.lansweeper.com/forum/yaf_postsm40110_Dell-Warranty-scan-errors.aspx#post40110

Our scanning server is running website version 7.0.100.5 so I'm not really happy with running an installer from 2015.

Can anyone give us some pointers as to what we can do to get this to work?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Appeared to be a Dell network issue. Resolved itself after ~24hours.

Is there any update on this? Our Dell machines are still not receiving warranty information.

Yeah there is only so much that can be done from our side when we rely on external systems. These connection issues have been popping up every so often due to how manufacturers change their warranty lookup procedures and API availability.

However we are looking into it to try and resolve this ASAP.

Thanks Charles.X. Will there be any post/news/notification/alert when the API begins to work properly.

Hi,

Don't think this has been solved yet as it seems to have stopped working properly at July 31, 2018.
After this date we only receive errors.

28-11-2018 11:00 31-7-2018 13:42 7.0.30.66
Connection error (elapsed time: 00:00:00.4100410): The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.

We've noticed a change in the Dell Warranty URL:
Lansweeper:
http://www.dell.com/support/my-support/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/{assettag}?show_warranty_model=true
Dell:
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/xxxxxxx/warranty?show_warranty_model=true
However when changing this in the LS Asset Pages no purchase date is returned 'when scanning from Dell. (error 401)
Using all of the 2 links above does work properly directly from the LS asset summary page when clicking on the serial number.

Lansweeper Support has acknowledged this to be an issue with Dell

Unfortunately, there are some problems at the Dell site which are preventing Lansweeper from retrieving the warranty for Dell assets. Rest assured that we have alerted our development team and they are in contact with Dell at the moment to check when they can restore this functionality. Dell is not able to provide us with an estimated release date at this time.

Hopefully this will be solved soon now as this is one of the key advantages of LS.

Thanks
