Engaged Sweeper II
Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some help getting DNS to work with the Lansweeper helpdesk. I want to make a DNS entry to point "helpdesk" to the main dashboard page for users. I'm really struggling and it doesn't seem to want to work. I tried making an A and CNAME, but neither seem to work. I used this for help: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/154748-dns-entry-for-helpdesk-url but, eh. Is it because LS defaults to port 81?

Thanks!

This did it. I forgot to update the ticket. The https://www.lansweeper.com/kb/55/How-to-change-the-port-number-in-IIS-Express.html address is it. Just had to change the port number in the config file. I already made a new host A rec in DNS.

Ok sounds good. Based on your suggestions, I found this page (https://www.lansweeper.com/forum/yaf_postst13341_HTTP-on-port-80.aspx#post47328) and this page (https://www.lansweeper.com/kb/55/How-to-change-the-port-number-in-IIS-Express.html) to figure out how to do that.

Thanks! I'll update again shortly.

DNS cannot forward to a different port. If you have an A record of helpdesk pointed to the IP address of of bklansweeper01, then http://helpdesk:81 should work.

You can change the Lansweeper port binding in IIS to port 80. If you do that, then http://helpdesk should work.
