I was excited to see that HP Warranty scanning is available again in the new 2.5.2.3 update right up until I tried figuring out how to get one of these API keys.

I've seen the updated documentation and sadly this doesn't seem to correspond to anything on HP's dev website:

https://community.lansweeper.com/t5/sites/enable-warranty-tracking/ta-p/70334#HP

None of the groups listed on HP's site indicates it will provide access to the Warranty API so if you skip the initial group selection page you can then see some more options including HP Client Management (which does mention Warranty tracking), but this then goes to a placeholder page with no further info. The other possible option is HP Proactive Insights but this then requires another login which indicates you need to be a paying customer to access anything further.

Am I being blind here and missing something obvious or have HP management to create yet another abomination of a website that is impossible to navigate?

It would also be great if the lansweeper docs could get updated a bit to reflect this and hopefully provide some updated guidance.

Hi,

finally, I successfully implemented this. Lansweeper was the simple part.
On the HP side, there still seems to be a lot of manual work involved.

We purchase our HP products from various retailers.
Our main retailer contacted their HP account manager, who helped us.
The whole process took over three weeks and involved several emails. The HP account manager had to fill out a form, I had to specify the reason for access (Lansweeper Warranty Check), and so on.
Then I finally gained access to the API and was able to create the API key with secret!
However, the secret is only valid for 90 days unless I have HP Cyber Security Approval. Whatever that is!

Enter it in Lansweeper (as documented) and voilà!

Hope this helps anyone.

Greeting
Robert

@RobertRosell thanks so much for sharing your experience on getting the HP warranty in Lansweeper working again.
We'll make sure to add more details in https://community.lansweeper.com/t5/scanning-your-network/set-up-automated-warranty-checks/ta-p/6440... to reflect on the 90 day validity or the HP Cyber Security Approval alternative

FYI: we also enabled this in the Lansweeper Platform as a template automation in FlowBuilder: Create Custom Workflows and Automations - Flow Builder. This allows you to get HP warranty details from devices coming from any discovery system (not only from Lansweeper scan servers, but also Network/IT Agent/Cloud Discovery and also manually added assets)

having same issues as Simon, and already have a dev account, there is no listing on the main login page for warranty API, so have reached to them direct via email address supplied by Gillian.  Haven't done a CC request as quick for our weekly Change Control meeting, for LS planned outage for upgrade to 12.5.40, to give Dark Mode and HP warranty fixes.......bit let down by HP, that this still cant be done, just to get an API key and secret generated.  Website design/workflow are terrible, very similar to their laptop build quality these days!!!

I'm still stuck. I already had a HP account so going to the developer page just signed me in with that. Now none of the further steps can be completed.

No expert in how the HP developer page works, but could you try by using a different email address, perhaps a shared mailbox from your team and restart the process using that one?

Tried that and the steps you provide are just not what you see.

When following the link to signup for the API you get an access denied like HP are not allowing you to access it.

It can take a few days before actually getting access to the API as HP approves this manually. Can you reach out to warrantyapi.customers@hp.com ?

When you say get access to the API, do you mean being able to access the page at this link.

https://developers.hp.com/hp-warranty-api-hp-warranty-api-pilot-companies/hp-warranty-api

As I not even been able to register for access, so there seems like at the moment there is nothing for HP to approve.

@SimonWhitfield

This Form is within the developers Portal: https://developers.hp.com/
You need to create an account on the Portal and there is a section "HP Warranty API - Registration Page": https://developers.hp.com/hp-warranty-api-registration-page
