We are seeing a problem with scanning the installed software on some, but not all, of our Macs. When scanning the problem machines, most of the data (CPU, memory, partitions, etc.) is successfully scanned, but an error is also received that says "Could not scan software. Enable Spotlight or sudo." The Software tab on the Mac's asset page simply says "No information found."
In testing, I have found that the problem appears to be a timeout issue. I connected via SSH to one of the problem machines and ran the following command:
system_profiler SPApplicationsDataType
The data is successfully returned, but there is a significant delay before it is. I didn't time it, but I'd estimate it to take over a minute for the data to be returned. I tested with the same command on one of our Macs which Lansweeper has successfully scanned the installed software, and the data is returned much faster.
Is anyone else seeing problems with retrieving installed software on some Macs but not others? Is there some hard-coded timeout for retrieving the data on Macs? We see the same problem on version 6.0.0.22, which we're currently running, and on the current version 6.0.0.42.
