How did exactly asset rename detection works?

For an example: I have an asset F19\comp1, with history, comments, filled warranty data, few warranty scan's in docs, etc.
Then that workplace has changed with new PC, so I rename F19\comp1 to RESERVE\comp1, change his status to 'spare', and named new one to F19\comp1.

Then I need to move RESERVE\comp1 to some other office.

Before reinstall OS I changed name of asset to WORKGROUP\comp5, install OS image with sysprep (WORGROUP\comp5 name because sysprep only let me to provide computer name, using WORKGROUP by default).

And after install I manually change workgroup to F25.
But after rescan I found new duplitate asset in database.
So I have old one WORKGROUP\comp5 with all the history and documents, and new one F25\comp5.

How properly rename asset, to save all comments\history\documents ?

Thank you

You need to either:
- Rename the computer in Lansweeper *first* so that the computer name in Lansweeper matches the actual computer name.
- Enable rename detection so that Lansweeper automatically detects the name change.
