Is there a way to rename a computer model? For example, Our new Lenovo M73 computers are listed as 10BBS07600. We would like to see that as M73.

Sure.

Go to the asset web page, click "Edit asset" in the asset option list at the left to go in edit mode and change the model computer model. Make sure the updated computer model is lock from being overwritten during a new scan.

In the asset list (when you click on "Assets" between Dashboard and Reports in the menu, you can multiselect the computers of this model and select "Mass change" in the asset option list at the left. This mass change is available starting from version 5.1

We have added this feature to our wish list. But we cannot assure you that this is going to be implemented. This is because we receive so many feature requests that we have to make a selection.

Can automated custom updates be a future feature, or just finding a way to make the settings stick?

These custom updates can't be automated using the Lansweeper web console, but you could create a conversion table (value, change_to_value) in SQL Server and schedule an update script to run in SQL management studio.

How do I get the model name to stick for any new machines added? The model name for a newly added computer reverts back to the cryptic Lenovo model number.

It seems like it will be tedious to go in and change the model numbers manually every time we add a new PC. Isn't there a way for Lansweeper to make the edited model number apply to any future added machines?

It worked great

Thank you!

When you mass change the checkbox "Lock against scanning" for the changed field is checked by default too. You can easily see the result when you go to one of the assets and go to the edit mode of the same.

I can edit the mass assets, but I can't find how to "lock the model".
