Dear,

When you change the name of a computer lansweeper registers a new item, keeping two records with different names for the same computer.
Because he just does not change the name on the existing record?
Is there a configuration option to change this?

Thanks

I did not understand how to label it for the life cycle.
The ideal would be to create the computer record the lansweeper make a comparison in the database by the identifier field, and in case of an exclusive registry duplicate the oldest record or publish the two records in a report, allowing the administrator to decide what do.

This problem has been discussed before, there is no 100% foolproof way lansweeper could detect this.

We encourage to keep the same computername and label it for the entire lifecycle.
If you can't do this you will have to use the rename method.

But it requires manual effort. Does lansweeper could not generate a unique identifier for each computer. Thus a single record would be created and this record would be changed as the changes were happening.

From the configuration tool you can right click the computer/rename before you change the actual name of the computer.
