You've pushed the deployment button. The deployment starts to run but returns an error: "Gathering information".
What happened?
The most common cause for deployments returning a "Gathering information" error would be that the Lansweeper server has restarted, or the Lansweeper service is not running when the deployment was executed.
Now what?
Check if all Lansweeper services are running on each of your Lansweeper scanning servers and that they are all turned on.
Cleaning up
When you see deployments returning "Gathering information", a deployment was likely aborted abnormally and not all steps have been completed. This could leave some ghost data, tricking the deployment module into believing that the deployment is already running. Obviously, this needs to be cleaned before deploying again.
What needs to be cleaned differs depending on which step the deployment got interrupted.
If a scheduled task is not created yet on your target machines, you can clean the deployment by:
- Stopping the Lansweeper Server service in Windows Services on your Lansweeper Server.
- Deleting any deployment schedules under Deployment\Schedules.
If a scheduled task is created on your target machines, stopping the Lansweeper service won't clean the deployment, unfortunately.
You should boot the target computer in safe mode and remove the items below:
- The executable in the C:\Windows\LSDeployment folder on the client machine.
- The registry entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\lansweeper\Remote deployment.
