I'm using Lansweeper 4.0, with active scanning - scanning 2 domains.

I have 100% scan on my local domain - or so I thought until I checked the computer list in Lansweeper against the list of computers in Active Directory. I have found 36 computers listed in Active Directory that have not been picked up by Lansweeper. I know some of these will be old computer accounts that have yet to be deleted in AD, but I thought Lansweeper should report these as unscanned.

I have checked errorlog.txt and there is no mention of any of these.

What else should I check

Hi,

I've managed to get everything from AD in my local domain into LS using scheduled scanning - adsipath dc=xx then scan selected range now. My other domain which I scan with different credentials is proving more problematic. The scan doesn't appear to work.

Thanks again,

Good to know that. Can you change the default from 14 to for e.g. 30days?

When you start active scanning (start the service) it looks on all domaincontrollers for computers objects seen in the last 14 days.
Then this process is repeated every 15 minutes.

Define "when they connect to the domain"

When I started lansweeper initially it picked up e.g. 100 computers 40 of which were not scanned. I turned on all computers in the building and that figure reduced to 6 (which had RPC issues). All of the computers in AD have already previously connected to the domain(we have added no new pc's) e.g. one that I checked had its anti virus updated 04/05/10 - what is the difference between the 34 that it found above and didn't scan until they were powered on and this particular one?

If you use active scanning then these computers will only be scanned/found when they connect in the domain.
If they stay powered off active scanning won't detect them.

If you want to add them all regardless of their state you can use scheduled scanning.
