Here's the thread I'm referencing:
http://www.lansweeper.com/forum/yaf_postst1708_ActionsCustom-ActionsPlugin-for-FireFox.aspx

I'm seeing the same problem as they did (Automation server can't create object) when accessing any function on the Action screen, even PING. The last message suggests that a lot more needs to be configured in IE than the one setting in the KB article (which was already configured that way for me anyway, here in IE8 on Win7), but what are the settings and why aren't they in the article? It sounds like I probably won't want to do them anyway, if it drops security that much, and FF does work, but it would be nice to get IE working.

It's Win7. I did just get it working by applying the change to Trusted Sites rather than Local Intranet after putting the server name there. So there appear not to be any additional settings as suggested in the last thread?

On which OS is the IE8 installed, we'll try to reproduce.

I could send one, but it's the familiar "Error: Automation server can't create object" popup that I mentioned and that is referenced in the first thread. It then sends you to the custom actions KB article (note that I've only attempting standard actions thus far).

Update: This may be an IE8-only problem. Don't see it happening in IE7, at least the locally installed one.

No, it's just default IE8. But I would also be interested in what do in the case of an enhanced security install (other than adding the site to the normal trusted list).

In enhanced security you should just add it to the trust list + the unc path where the tools are.

Which exact error do you get in IE8, do you have a screenshot?

Hi,

Something we must add to the knowledgebase: is internet explorer enhanced security installed?
