We are researching asset Management vendors, and have a few questions regarding LanSweeper.

1. Can lansweeper scan W95, 98, NT4, Linux, Mac OS, Mac OSX, Xserve or Unix?
2. Can you access reporting via Internet Explorer?
3. Can scans be remotely initiated?
4. Can scans capture settings of DNS, DHCP, FTP, and printers?
5. Can scans capture IP addresses, subnets, gateway?

thanks for your help,

Rich

Lansweeper inventories the printers mapped to the computers, it does not go actively searching for printers in the network.

1) Do you mean: search all computers for *.xls : no, this is not possible
2) A scheduled scan is available but using active scanning is recommended
3) You can configure lansweeper with one central database of with different databases for each site.
4) In the current version there is no alerting available.

1. Can you search for specific file extentions in DB?
2. Can the scans be scheduled?
3. We have 50 sites. Can each site access their informatiion only?
4. What alert capabilities are available?
