When we receive new PCs I'd like to be able to enter them into Lansweeper so I can track the PO numbers for them and the serials. It seems when I do this, I end up with duplicates. What I was doing was manually entering it as Stock, Windows, Assetname as Serial (left unlocked), Manufacturer (unlocked), Model (unlocked), Domain, and then serial (locked). When I do this I always end up with duplicates once the machine is on the domain and scanned.

Is there a way to pre-enter an asset so that when it's scanned the serial is detected and updated with the rest of the information, so that way I have the PO info (as a custom field) is already in there?

Okay, that won't work then. Thanks anyways. Hopefully someday it'll do it by Serial.

This likely won't happen, as we allow you to overwrite serials. We are working on a way to identify Windows computers based on MAC address instead.

Lansweeper identifies Windows computers based on their NetBIOS computer name/NetBIOS domain name combination, not based on their serial number. Make sure that:
- You are running the latest Lansweeper 5.0 version: http://lansweeper.com/Download.aspx
- When manually creating Windows assets, you select "Windows" as the asset type and submit the correct (actual) computer name and domain name.
