Nil interface error

Hello,
I am trying to install 3.1 for the first time. I enter the database server name and click on next and i get
runtime error (at 30:645):

Nil interface exception.

I've uploaded a new installer which should fix the problem

database is installed as the default intance on gai-apsv. I also tried another server that is gai-mgmt\sqlmgmt. i got the same error

actually i have tried to install it on 2 different server and different SQL servers as well

Computer where you want to install the database : GAI-APSV >> Yes

Some questions:
Is the GAI-APSV a sql2005 server? >> this is SQL 2000 with SP4

Do you have administrative permissions on the database server with your current logged on administrator account? >> Yes. I use this login all the time to create DBs.
