I have this issue: in my domain A we have 42 computers, named PC1, PC2 etc. When scanning, Lansweeper find only PC1, PC2, PC4, PC9 (as an example). A few (but not all) other PCs were discovered and labeled "Unknown". I deleted these oblejects and did a full rescan, as this has helped before.
The PCs are up and running (confirmed by pinging), firewall service is set to disabled.
Could you contact us at support@lansweeper.com and provide us with screenshots of the following: - Your web console landing page. You can access your landing page by clicking on the Lansweeper logo in the top left corner of the web console. Please show us the whole page. - All domain scanning methods you have enabled in the configuration console under Scanning Servers\Your Server: Active Scanning, IP Range Scanning and/or Scheduled Scanning. - Lansweeper webpage for one "unknown" machine.
I did exactly what you proposed. I'm sorry for being unclear. But,alas, the problem is still there.
From 42 computer objects listed in Active Directory only 14 PCs and servers show up in Lansweeper, seven devices are listed as Unknown. The rest won't show up.
The "Rescan" and "Full Rescan" buttons only work for machines that are already in your database. If you are using IP Range Scanning, hit the "Scan all enabled ranges now" button in the configuration console under Scanning Servers\Your Server\IP Range Scanning\IP Ranges to rescan your network.
An automated procedure is used to make the distinction between “computers” and “devices” (printers, routers, etc). If port 135 is open, the machine is deemed a computer. If port 135 is closed, the machine is deemed a device. If a computer is identified as an "unknown device", the solution is to open port 135, delete the "faulty" device entry from your database and rescan the machine. You can delete devices from your database by selecting them in your configuration console under Lansweeper\Scanned Devices and hitting the “Delete” button. If port 135 on the computer remains open, the device entry will not return.
