Great product by the way

The problem I am having is when I setup scanning on my domain, and filter it by OU, nothing ever works. But If I scan by domain, I get everything.

This is okay, but in our network each separate location has admin rights to there own OU. And with 9000 computers this is a problem.

I hope someone where I am just setting something up incorrectly

Active scanning is checked.
A domain is added
And OU filter is set correctly ( OU=computerOU,DC=Domain,DC=local )

My account is not a domain admin account, but it does have admin rights in my OU. I know I could just use it for the whole domain, but at the moment the software was purchased just at my campus.

Also, how do you get access to the premium forums section.

Thanks

How does lansweeper decide which DC to look at for AD?

Lansweeper queries all DC's in the domain because a workstation only logs on to one of the DC's and this field isn't replicated to the other DC's by microsoft design

can we specify a DC for lansweeper to look at?

No, see previous question

Does Lansweeper use WMI to scan the DC holding AD?

No, Ldap is used

I will not be able to get the dcdiag command output

Replication problems and other active directory problems can be a big problem for Lansweeper contacting some dc's (and other programs)
a "dcdiag /e /q" should give no output on a fully working forest.

"The server is not operational" means that a domaincontroller is not active or not working.
If your clients log on to this one and lansweeper can't contact it for some reason then this is the cause of the problem.

I am trying to help resolve this problem, but when you get one reply a day, it's kinda hard to get things done.

24/7 support is not always possible considering the time difference.
Also please provide screenshots of your configuration as asked.

Since you are the only one affected by this problem so far I suggest to contact lansweeper@hemoco.com so we can organize a remote control session to your server.

Okay, even when I specify jsut to scan the domain. It only scans about 1/2 of the total computers.

Can you break the process down a little.

Alright, I have setup lansweeper by the book. Following all instructions, and still nothing.

I understand the use of forums, but is there only one person that answers questions?

I understand this software is not that expensive, but 5 days of nothing but upload this, and run this command. No reason given for running these commands.

I will not be able to get the dcdiag command output. Not sure why it is even needed. We have tons of programs that scan AD with no issues.

If this is how support is going to be? If so I would just assume get my money back for the product.

I assume this is the final 3.5, as I completly removed lansweeper, and reinstalled with the exec on this site.

The version I have is 3.5.0.44

As far as the dcdiag on our top dc. this will take a little bit.

Why exactly would you need this?

2 questions

1) is this the final version or the beta version.
2) could you send the output of a "dcdiag /e /q" from your topdomain controller please.

Alright, I am not sure where to go with this.

I even got a domain admin to start the lansweeper service with there credentials, and still nothing.
