Engaged Sweeper
Hope someone can help me and congrates on a great app 🙂

I have Lansweeper working ok on my LAN but I have another 3 sites that all connect via vpn. When the Client or Servers in the remote locations run LSClient.exe from their logon script they get one of these 2 errors:

009 26/07/2005 2:05:42 PM (NETWORKCLIENT) PC09.brisoff.local The RPC server is unavailable.
001 26/07/2005 2:05:57 PM (REGISTRY) PC10.brisoff.local The network path was not found.

This is happening on all components not just the ones I have listed.

We are running Win2k3 Standard & SQL2000, all clients are WinXPProSP2 and I have enabled the remote management exception in the windows firewall. I have also setup the LSService.exe to run as a service and it starts automatically.

As I stated previously all the clients on the LAN segment (192.198.0.0/24) work fine it is my other subnets that are having an issue (192.168.1.0/24, 192.168.2.0/24, ect)

Thanks

This is the same problem.
You are using WMI for these properties.
In a default configuration you should have had authorisation for this.

You can try to view in "computer management\services and applications\wmi control\root\security"
local administrators should have full control

I can connect using the Admin Share C$ and to the remote registry on the effected computers. I am not too sure how to connect to a remote computer using WMI (maybe you can fill me in?) When I try to connect to the effected computers to get the Properties of My Computer Remotely I get an "accessed denied" error so I was wondering if this is the same problem. :w)

If you go to the server and log in with your administrative account and then try to connect to this clients (WMI, c$ or remote registry)
Does this work?

Does anyone have any ideas on these errors? I am only getting them on a few clients and their setup is the same as all my other working clients?

Thanks for the help, I think I have it figured out now. To get rid of the error "The RPC Server is Unavailable" i disabled the Windows Firewall completely and this seems to have fixed the problem.

On another matter, I have about 5 random computers that are saying "Access is Denied". I think this is a problem with the computer accounts maybe, because if I try and run the GP RSoP I get an access denied error. Has anyone come accross this error with Lansweeper before?

Thanks again for the help Smikkel :lol

I think that the problem is that your clients aren't registered in dns.
Can you try the new version of lansweeper, this version scans on ipaddress instead of fqdn

Just wondering if anyone can help with my issue? I only need to get Lansweeper working in my remote sites that connect via VPN, all my local clients work ok.

Thanks 🙂

Yes all clients log into the domain. All the remote sites have a local domain controller that they log into, and our PDB is in the H/O around 1000km away.

Are these users logged in to the domain or locally? (or with cashed credentials?)

You have to be logged in to the domain for lsclient.exe to work
