If I manually change the state of an asset and assign it a custom state, during the next scan, will the system overwrite the state to assign it another buitl-in state?"

Dear,

Doing this, you may have duplicates then.
If you change the asset type of a Windows computer for example, a new scan of the same devices will compare it with other Windows assets to see if it exists already? If you change it to desktop or laptop for example, you will a new asset with the type "Windows" again. For Windows assets, we recommend leaving the asset type "as is".

Good to know, thanks. But if I manually change the state, not the type, of an asset and assign it a custom state, during the next scan, will the system overwrite the state to assign it another buitl-in state?"

Hello Cat,

Sorry for the confusion.
The principle is the same. We only change the default states. If the asset is set to a custom state, it won't change when rescanned.

As mentioned in the description of the cleanup option, we only change "non-active" assets to active again.
