Just an FYI for everyone else: you can hit the pencil shaped edit button next to a role in the User Roles section of Configuration\User Access & Roles to add the Delete Tickets permission to the role. A user with a role that includes this permission can delete tickets from the Actions menu in individual tickets and ticket overviews.

I do not have an edit role option next to roles. I'm trying to delete a ticket from history and do not have the option to do so.

Ahh, found it. Thanks very much. I'm really digging the Help Desk so far. Nice job.

There is a permission in the user roles to delete tickets which is disabled by default.
