How are monitors connected to computers scanned?

I'm new to Lansweeper and was wondering how Lansweeper is able to pick up which monitors are connected to a computer. Just looking for a high level explanation.

Indeed, from WMI, but also from the registry. The following sources are used.
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\DISPLAY

  • The WMI class WMIMonitorID

  • The WMI class Win32_PnPEntity
