the only solution i've found so far is to stop the lansweeper service on the server. nothing has changed in my configurations since the upgrade.

Connection test emails are sent whenever the Lansweeper server service restores its connection to your mail server. Seeing a large amount of connection test emails in your helpdesk inbox is likely a symptom of either connection instability, or service instability, the former being far more likely. We recommend checking the following:
- Open mailtester.exe which can be found in the Program Files (x86)\Lansweeper\Tools folder and test your mail connection using this tool, its output may be able to tell you more.
- Make sure no firewall or antivirus is interfering with your Lansweeper server's connection to your mail server. As a test you could try disabling both.
- Verify the network connection of your Lansweeper server, it may be unstable.
- Make sure the settings of your email account under Configuration\E-mail Settings are fully correct, as a test you could try removing and re-adding the account.
