I am working with a small (< 20) workstation network running LanSweep v5306.
I have 4 machines that run Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I used lspush originally to collect their information and import it into Lansweep.

Since then, I upgraded one of the devices to Windows 8.1 Pro however Lansweeper still shows the machine as running Windows 7. I tried running lspush again but the file is sitting in the import folder and not being actioned.

How do I get Lansweeper to update the asset?

Since it's now Windows 8.1 shouldn't it have been updated without lspush?

We received a mail regarding the same issue. The installation was in freeware mode, which only allows LsClient as scanning methods, but not LsPush. However, Windows Home edition computers need to be scanned with LsPush, so in this case you need to apply a license to your Lansweeper web console.
On Windows Professional editions you can use LsClient, but you need to ensure that your Lansweeper service port (9524/TCP by default) is open, as well as other ports required for scanning.

Apparently running LanSweeper from a Win 8 Pro machine is the way to go...

Other important information I suspect...

Lansweeper server is on wired lan, other machines are all on wifi.
lsclient fails regardless of parameters specified
network itself is fine (mapped drives etc are fine)

PS I have been running lsclient manually from the command prompt. I have used both of the following:

lsclient Cer-James
lsclient 192.168.0.11

I have everything ready to go except the TestConnection screen shots. Since these are currently Windows Home versions, except the one upgraded to Win 8 Pro, they won't work with anything other than lspush correct?

So lsclient is out yes? If so, and lsclient doesn't work with the Freeware version, maybe thats the source of the general lack of automatic updates. However, it doesn't address the lack of updating the Win 8 Pro machine or the inability to import lspush files with Freeware version?

I can include the TestConnection screen shot for the Win 8 Pro test from the Win 7 "server" (host for LanSweep).

Could that be a problem?
Maybe I should remove the current LanSweep and re-install on the Win 8 machine instead?

Could you send a mail to support@lansweeper.com with the following:
  • Link to this forum topic
  • Program Files (x86)\Lansweeper\Service\errorlog.txt as present on your Lansweeper server
  • a screenshot of the Configuration\Your License page
  • Screenshot of a connection test performed to one problem client machine with testconnection.exe, which can be found in Program Files (x86)\Lansweeper\Actions on your Lansweeper server. Perform the test from your Lansweeper server to the client machine, submit the same credential used by Lansweeper to scan the client and show us the entire test window.

> have a valid Lansweeper license. In Freeware mode only LsClient will work, but LsPush won't

I verified the credentials before and after.
Ran lsclient from a command line (with admin)
Even tried to remove the asset and start over.

No new recognition of device, no import of lspush file from import folder.

Computers will automatically be rescanned if you
  • entered valid scanning credentials under Configuration\Scanning credentials and mapped them to the IP range, domain or hostnames of assets to be scanned (not that for scanning of Windows 8 machines you are able to provide a UPN name as well since Lansweeper 5.3)
  • defined regular scanning schedules under Configuration\Scanning methods
  • have a valid Lansweeper license. In Freeware mode only LsClient will work, but LsPush won't
