I am trying to figure out how the (red/green/yellow/gray) Ping indicator / orb on the asset page is actually performing the ping.. For us we are seeing a lot of red indications on servers that are in another domain than the scanner.
By gathering information from old threads (from 2015) i see references to ping being done by NetBIOS-name of the device (if Windows device), is that still the case and is there any workarounds to make this work in a multi-domain environment?

Dear ErikA,
The ping indicator is done through the web console. This is often forgotten. It's not the scan server that does this.
More information can be found in the KB article below.

Dear FrankSc,
Thank you for the reply.
So the ping will originate from the server hosting the Lansweeper Web page? That part should give correct replies for us.
However, since we are scanning devices that are in separate domains the NetBIOS will not always resolve for the devices in other domains, is there any general recommendations on setting up 'DNS Suffix Search List' or similar on the server hosting the Lansweeper web service to achieve functional cross domain pings?

Hello ErikA,
There is nothing really foreseen for such a scenario unfortunately. We just use the known Netbios name for Windows, Using a DNS suffix, as you suggested, is not possible at the moment.
