Engaged Sweeper

Hello,

we have a problem with a user group, that after a working Button, now can't add new IP Location in the Lansweeper Cloud.

The permission are set to View, Create, Edit and Delete.

Everything works, except the creation of new IP Locations.

Has someone a similar problem?

Greetings

Dirk

Hi,

Even though the affected user group’s role includes View, Create, Edit, Delete permissions, the ability to add or modify IP locations in Lansweeper Cloud (Sites) is controlled not only by permissions but also by scope assignment.

If the role’s assigned scope doesn’t include the specific installation or site context where the IP locations exist, the “Add new IP location” button will be greyed out or result in a “not allowed” state.

This normally happens when:

  • The user’s role has Create permission for Discovery targets, but the scope doesn’t include the installation, network, or subnet.
  • Or, there’s been a recent role or platform update that enforces stricter separation between scopes and configuration actions.

    Review Assigned Scopes

    1. Go to Configuration → Account Management → Asset scopes.
    2. Open the scope that’s linked to the affected role.
    3. Verify that:
      • There are no filters excluding IP Locations or Discovery configurations.
      • The installation or site the users are trying to modify is explicitly included.

    4. If not, edit the scope:
      • Under Conditions, add an inclusion for the installation or IP location range.
      • Save and apply.
