The first thing you should do is check your scanning setup under Configuration\Scanning Setup\Scanning Methods. Which machines get scanned and when depends on which scanning methods you've enabled and how you've configured them.
Active Scanning for instance will scan machines as they report to a domain controller. To import computer objects directly from an AD OU, use
Scheduled Computer Scanning instead.
