Scaning server of main instance grabs assets from local scanning servers. How to prevent this?

We have roughly 20 scanning servers across our locations.
We have one main instance and one SQL db created.
There is one domain with by-location-created OUs.
There are unique IPv4 subnets in each location.
Scanning targets are defined: location-related subnets and OUs are assigned to specific scanning servers deployed in the location.

The issue I see quite often is that for some portion of assets Scanning server changes to the main instance.
Even if OU and subnets are not overlapping. All scanning servers are highly available.

Yes, there is such a target defined in the main instance - disabled, however.
There are "Active Directory User Path" and "Active Directory Computer Path" defined for each scanning server with the corresponding OU.
