I noticed similar topics in the past but not quite the problem we are having:
We have remote branches connected to the headoffice via vpn. The pc's are picked up by LS however the printers are not.
I put them in manually and tested them with device tester. they responded normally. SNMP is open, HTTP is open and jetdirecport is open too.
what can be the problem?

changed the ping to 5s. No change.
Did you also try with the "don't ping" checkbox.
To test the device tester make sure you test if from the server to the printer (not from your workstation)

You can run the devicetester also standalone from the lansweeper\actions folder with windows explorer.
Did you try the "don't ping" option for the printers?

tried to use the device tester from the console on the server. (windows 2003 r2)
all the basic actions work, but no advanced actions. I keep getting the 'application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy' (.NET Framework message)
The url of the console is in 'trusted sites' and the security level for the zone has been set to 'low' all activeX is enabled.

Try increasing the ping timeout for this IP range.
