Engaged Sweeper II
We have several installations of Techsmith SnagIt in the environment and would like to retrieve the RegistrationKey. It appears that SnagIt removed the RegistrationKey from the registry after version 9. However, it does appear that the location to retrieve the key is
%ProgramData%\TechSmith\Snagit 10
%ProgramData%\TechSmith\Snagit 11
%ProgramData%\TechSmith\Snagit 12
Inside of this location in 10 is Reginfo.ini
Inside of this location in 11 and 12 is either Reginfo.txt or Reginfo.ini
In Lansweeper when I look at ‘Configuration | Product Keys’ I only see the ability to add scans via the registry. Is it possible to scan the locations listed and then grab the RegistrationKey from the files listed above? If unable to pull from the .ini file, could we atleast pull the info from the .txt for versions 11 and 12?

I fully admit to not being a scripting guy and have little knowledge in that area so just looking to see if anyone has done something like this in the past or could help because they might be bored, lol.

By the way, I appreciate all the information in this forum. It has helped me numerous times.

Lansweeper cannot currently read software license keys from inside of files unfortunately. As you indicated as well, you can only submit registry locations for scanning. Retrieving keys from inside of files is on our customer wish list, but we do not have a release date for this feature unfortunately.

This is not something we can really provide instructions or support for, but you could potentially create a deployment package to retrieve the information and print it to a separate file. General instructions for creating and running deployment packages can be found in this section of our knowledge base.
