We have an occasional purchase request which might be deferred to a later date because of budget cycles. I have created a "Deferred" state, however, as the ticket remains open for months, it is easy to stop noticing it. Is there a way to place a ticket in a state so it is temporarily closed, then pops up at a later date? Example: A department puts in a request for a couple of printers in August, but since their printers are currently working (they just want to upgrade) we are waiting till the next year's budget cycle rolls around to purchase them.
It would be great if we could place that ticket on hold, then it pops back up in our active ticket list in January. Is there a way to do this? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I believe your best option is to use the follow-up option. You can use the follow-up specific ticket filter to get a list of all tickets that are close to their follow-up date.
