We have 2 domains and would like users from the second domain to be able to log onto the help desk console to view and submit cases. Creating a trust between domains is not a possibility; my first thought was to create a local user, but it appears that local users do not have access to the web portal. We would just like the ability for users from the second domain to log onto the console just as users from our main domain can do. Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated, I would be glad to provide more information or clarification if it's needed.

Logging in will not be possible without a trust between the domains, as the web service will not be able to verify the user credentials. Local users should work, however. When logging in with a local user you'll have to add the machine name just like you would a domain. If for example your web service is installed on a computer called LAN-WIN7, then a user called User1 would log in with LAN-WIN7\User1. This user has to exist on the machine in question.
