VMWare ESXi Server linkage

Hello,

We are having a small issue with our VMWare ESXi servers, since some time ago, the VM's guests created on them are not automagically linked to the corresponding server, nor the VM guests list the VMWare server in which they are hosted.

Explaining the issue, let's say I pick the Summary page on a VMWare ESXi server, on the end, there is the list of the guest machines installed. The list is correct, but only the older guests are "clickable", the newer ones are not linked and their OS is not listed. But RAM, CPU and Tools status is correct.

If I choose one of the VM's, it does list it's Hypervisor on the Summary Page.

DeviceTester does give a timeout scanning these two URLS:

https://<server>/mob
https://<server>/sdk

But it picks other information, like hardware on so.

Has anybody seem this ? It seems to be happening on all of our servers, so it does not seem to be a localized issue...

You could do a test with our VM testing tool to see exactly what information is retrieved.

However, to fully troubleshoot the issue, I recommend contacting our support team with all the information you have.

Does the ESXi server itself shows it as installed? I'm guessing Lansweeper only takes what it gets from ESXi.

We still have that issue, but to be honest, we didn't made many efforts to solve it... VMWare ESXi scanning has been sketchy these last months, besides this, we now have an issue that one of the servers does not report any guest machines at all... we have been waiting for the beta version to came out, since there is a (fixed) bug regarding VMWare ESXi scanning listed on the changelog...

In the meantime, I've just upgraded LS to the latest version, did a full rescan of one of the machines that are not linked and the result is the same, it does not get linked. VMWare tools are installed, but Lansweeper lists them as "not installed" for these guests...

If a MAC returned by the VMware host's MOB matches the MAC returned directly by a guest asset, Lansweeper knows the guest and host are connected. A link will be displayed on both the guest and the host page. As the link is displayed on the guest machine Lansweeper must have the correct information.

I'd recommend checking the following:

• VMWare tools is installed on all guest machines
  
• The MAC addresses returned by the host are correct and identical to the ones returned by the guests
  
• Your Lansweeper has been updated
