Its a crazy wish...

Is it possible to use the system to creact datacenter management (infrastructure) ?
the idea is to add the following fields to the assets and base on this fields to generate report on Rack cappasity, asset location in the datacenter - eg Rack 22 U37.

The field should be: Datacenter (name- in case that you have more than one), Rack ID and U location (Location in the.

With this given information in the DB its possible to create report that will alert when a rack is nearly full, to make a map of the datacenter ext.

This idea is based on system like http://racktables.org/ or http://www.opendcim.org/ that needs to manually add the devices, since here with Lansweeper we already have all the devices is it possible to make a small adjustment?

Thanks,

I would love to see this as well.

My company is currently using Rackmonkey (https://flux.org.uk/projects/rackmonkey/) to keep track of it's racked servers and such. Rackmonkey can do rack diagrams on the fly based on the rack name and the "U" spaces used by your servers/equipment.

But why re-enter a bunch of info into Rackmonkey, if Lansweeper could get this information and diagrams already.

Here's a sample Rackmonkey rack diagram from its website:

You can add the specified data to the Custom1 through Custom20 fields available when hitting the Edit Asset button on an asset page, but you need to do this either manually or through a custom script.
