Ok any help would be appreciated...
I set up a virtual domain for testing and to document the procedures befor this product goes live on our network.
I am running 3 .vhds all with 2008 standard
1 is set up as the DC
1 is an IIS server I will be doing other testing with
1 is a SQL server also with IIS - this is where LS is installed
I installed LS and activated the premium version
I use the connector test tool and get connection to all servers
I opend the GPO settings for the firewall
Default Domain Policy>Computer Configuration>Policies>Admin Template>Network Connections>Windows Firewall>Domain Profile
Setting State Comment
Windows Firewall: Allow local program exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Define inbound program exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Protect all network connections Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Do not allow exceptions Disabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound file and printer sharing exception Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow ICMP exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow logging Disabled No
Windows Firewall: Prohibit notifications Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow local port exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Define inbound port exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound remote administration exception Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound Remote Desktop exceptions Enabled No
Windows Firewall: Prohibit unicast response to multicast or broadcast requests Not configured No
Windows Firewall: Allow inbound UPnP framework exceptions Not configured No
how ever there seems to be an issue with the GPO updating
C:\>netsh firewall show state
Firewall status:
---------------
Profile = Domain
Operational mode = Enable
Exception mode = Enable
Multicast/broadcast response mode = Enable
Notification mode = Disable
Group policy version = Windows Firewall
Remote admin mode = Disable
Have rebooted all servers
the GPO will still not show update when run netsh
run gpupdate -- no change
I set active scanning
It does not show the 2 other computers in the domain
Tried logging on and off of these several times.
They are in AD
Can ping all 3 servers from each other
Using lsclient does not work either
basically in a nutshell LS does not see anythig but the box it is installed on
I will be running this from a virtualized server when deployed....
Thanks

and is this a parameter that can be set?

If your not yet live I suggest you try version 4.0 beta from the forum, this fixes this problem.
(final release comes out in one month)

Active scanning scans the computers when they connect to the DC.
Workstations do this every day.
Servers, every couple of days.
Domain controllers every week.

Are the computer displayed but in red or are they not displayed at all?
This should be yes instead of No
Please also post your errorlog.txt file and your active scanning setup.

it is enabled the "no " is from the comment section... this was cut and pasted from the GPO mmc
there are no computers listed red or otherwise

Then the problem is related to active scanning not properly setup up.
Please post the configuration and errorlog.txt file.
