I am having some trouble configuring Lansweeper to scann all computers. Most machines correctly scan.

I have found a few things:

1. The connection tester does not find any problems.
2. Reverse lookup works.
3. all the computers where reverse lookup failed display dates like of 05/01/2009, 07/01/2009, or 09/01/2009.

Any advice? Is there anything else I should check?

You can delete the computers not needed with the management console.

I worked with our network administrator, and clearning out the reverse lookup zone worked. I asked him to fix the aging issue and he is working on it. It already is much better. Is there a way to get lansweeper to deal with the bad information?

Thanks,

Did you clean out the reverse lookup zones off your dns servers?

The changes you sugested do not seem to help.

This is the file that is called on boot:

Echo off
ipconfig /registerdns
\\hca-bet-vmls01.medtap.com\lsclient\lsclient.exe hca-bet-vmls01

Any other things to try?

I modified the .bat file and will see if that helps.

Thank you.

You can change the date display format in the web.config file.
in this case 12/1 = 1/12

Which means that the reverse lookup is wrong.

You can try by doing a "ipconfig /registerdns" before you issue lsclient.exe
This way your dns get's updated before the scan.

Better would be to delete the old values out of your dns server

Here is an example of the exact error message that one machine generated from that machine's error screen:

Wmierror Reverse lookup failed : 10.7.6.124 <> skummer-lt.medtap.com 1/12/2009 8:12:49 AM

When I go to the listing of machines were reverse lookup failed, I get an error that looks like this:

Reverse lookup failed : 10.7.6.124 <> skummer-lt.medtap.com 12/01/2009
