Does Lansweeper 3.0 install as a stright upgrade to the 2.x product or are there specific things I have to do?

Theoreticly : yes, but it will be a hard job

I think the easiest way will be to use an ms access adp project.

Rename the old database
Create the new empty 3.0 database as "Lansweeper"

Copy/paste the fields for each table to the new database (one table at a time, only copy the corresponding fields)
Start with the tblcomputers table.

No, apparently I'm a complete idiot and missed that point. Sorry to be a bother.

Did you read the prerequisites?
Is the server where the service is installed windows 2003?

PlatformNotSupportedException: This class cannot be used on the current operating system. Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP SP2 is required to use instances of this class.

I followed the instructions and when I got to the part where I should surf to http://servername:9524 it fails. The Errorlog.txt contains the following:

1/29/2008 4:18:39 PM
System.PlatformNotSupportedException: Operation is not supported on this platform.
at System.Net.HttpListener..ctor()
at Lansweeper30.Listen.DoListen()
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

Any ideas?

There is no upgrade path, you have to make a seperate installation.
(everything is changed, even the lsclient.exe)

Be careful, the new 3.0 database is called "Lansweeper", if you want to keep your current 2.1 database, make sure not to overwrite it.

Better make this a sticky

Is there a way to import the old database back into the new one after the upgrade?

Thanks in advance and great application!!
