Hey Lansweeper community!

We’re thrilled to announce a new update to our API that empowers you to edit your assets more efficiently. This enhancement is designed to give you greater control and flexibility in managing your IT environment. Here’s everything you need to know about this new feature:

Key Features and Guidelines

  • Permissions Required: To edit an asset, you must have permission to create and edit assets.
  • One Asset at a Time: Only one asset can be edited at a time to ensure precision and accuracy.
  • Edit Frequency: The same asset can’t be updated more than once every 10 seconds, so plan your edits accordingly.
  • Character Limit: Each edit is limited to 250 characters to keep data concise and manageable.
  • Standard Fields Compliance: When editing a field that’s set as a standard field, your value must adhere to that field’s standard. If it doesn’t match, you’ll receive a "Standard fields are not valid" error. To check which fields are standardized, navigate to your Lansweeper site and go to Configuration > Asset management > Standard values.
  • Asynchronous Requests: The request runs asynchronously, allowing you to continue working without waiting for the edit to complete.
  • OT Assets: Please note that OT assets cannot be edited with this update.

How to Get Started

To start editing your assets, ensure you have the necessary permissions and familiarize yourself with the standardized fields in your configuration.
