E-mail Account: after testing I get a status of "Scanserver down", what?

What does the scan server have to do with the email test. This is very confusing and a terrible error message! What the heck is this really trying to tell me?

That was it, service was not running for some reason.

Hello there!

One of your scanning servers will be configured as your mail server.
