I am demoing LanSweeper v6.0.100.29. I've been working through getting everything to scan and that's going pretty well.

I've been reviewing the results of these scans and have noticed that scanning for installed software has an issue. I have Acronis Workstation v11.7 installed on over 83 PCs (reported by my current asset software). When I go into software in LanSweeper, it reports that it's installed on only 13 PCs.

I've gone to several PCs that have Acronis v11.7 installed and rescanned them but it still doesn't show up in LanSweeper.

I haven't identified any other software that's not showing up so far and I've found a number that are reported incorrectly by my old asset software.

I have to wonder why LanSweeper is configured to only to record software installed for the current user.

LanSweeper is a utility for network admins. As an admin, I may choose to install software on a system that only one user will use but I still want to know it's installed regardless of who is logged on.

The article you provided a link to confusing. In the first bullet point it states that Lansweeper scans "Software installed for the computer as a whole, i.e. for all users configured on the computer." But in the next bullet point it says it's only scanning for only for logged in user during scan.

Please consider changing the default software scanning behavior. I only see upsides to scanning for all software all the time.

Thanks. That makes sense. A number of these PCs had Acronis installed while logged on as the domain admin.

Lansweeper scans installed Windows software from the registry of the local Windows computer and mimics Add/Remove Programs. I'd recommend checking whether Acronis Workstation is listed in the Add/Remove Programs list. If it's not, it will not be directly scannable via software scanning unfortunately.

If Acronis Workstation was installed for a specific user, this software will only be picked up if Lansweeper scans the computer while this user is logged on.

For more information on the Lansweeper software scanning procedure you can check out this article.
