Hi!
We're using Lansweeper Classic (latest version) with a customer's on premises Active Directory environments. There are multiple AD Computer objects that are 'stale' or no longer in use. The need to be removed from AD, but we're not there yet.
The problem we're facing is that most of these objects keep getting rediscovered, and I don't understand why that's happening. For instance, this happens:
I believe that this is not normal behaviour, but the response van Lansweeper Support is: 'make sure that the computers are reachable and can be contacted'.
Question: does anyone recognize this behaviour? Why do computers get removed from the database only to be rediscovered automatically?
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply!
Making sure that your assets get scanned correctly solves a lot of trouble.
Totally agree. But I think that 'unscannable' servers (for whatever reason) should not vanish without a reason.

Sure. I checked DNS and the computers can be resolved. The cleanup options are default:
So I would not expect the discovered servers to be deleted that quickly. Having said that, we've installed an LsAgent to overcome this issue and that's a workaround with which we can live.
We're currently running 12.2.0.4 and will update to the latest asap.

Hello Pistoletjes,
Making sure that your assets get scanned correctly solves a lot of trouble.
If assets don't get scanned correctly or completely, you could experience wrong merges to happen. Which could explain why they disappear.
But if they do get rescanned when not available, it could be that they are in AD, and you are also scanning disabled computers in AD, which is an option you can disable.
Another reason for them to disappear could be a cleanup option that deletes assets not seen in XX days.
Stale DNS records or bad DNS resolution can also cause similar issues.
In the case you logged, it seems that you are running a version that is slightly older. Please try to update to the latest version as well.
But do reach out the the Support team again, if you can't figure this out, certainly after updating to the latest version and you still see the issue.
