We use Jira /JSM for our ITSM and leverage the LS Jira integration into Assets.  Lansweeper provides asset information, that we link to various other data sources imported into assets such as Applications, Application owners, Business owners, vendors, IT Services, Locations, etc.  It's not a true CMDB, but it's a great solution for mapping assets, applications, services, teams, vendors, etc. For ITSM, it's a way to link an incident or CR to all the dependencies.  For example, if an incident is opened for a node-down alert, end-users can see what could be impacted and who owns it and who should be informed.

This will also help us populate a Status Page and Self-Service Catalog.

At least, that's the goal 😁.  I'm still working on the design and LS import challenges.  If anyone else has similar needs, I'd love to get a group together to share ideas.

Hello there!

CMDB stands for configuration management database but depending on who you ask, this can encompass many different functions. A CMDB can range from a simple asset and software inventory to a comprehensive data warehouse, organizing information about an IT environment. While Lansweeper certainly will tick certain boxes of a CMDB we might lack some specific features that you wish to see.

We do offer several integrations (mostly for our cloud platform) to enhance our capabilities: https://www.lansweeper.com/product/integrations/

I think only integration of LS and third party CMDB is now available.

Too complex challenge to LS.

Hmm. I always think that LS is CMDB.

Could you explain differents?

Hey Mister_Nobody - though opinions differ, the general consensus for a CMDB is that an asset (called a configuration item or CI) indeed has an inventory record - usually standard details such as name/serial number/mac address/OS/OSVersion ... etc. etc.  (its as much or as little as you want).  But a CMDB has a ton of other tables/records tied to the CI - such as associated requests, incidents, change control tickets, approvals, change history, other CI dependencies (CI Parents/Children relationships usually manually created because automated isn't exactly accurate yet), and associated software installed on the CI's.  Basically it's what an ITSM has - the CMDB is the backbone of it.  So, a lot of people including myself, populate CMDB's according to the data specifications that the ITSM Director or Administrator has or wants...  some folks want every single piece of information about an asset inside their CMDB/ITSM - to which I push back because that's what Lansweeper is for, and not an ITSM/CMDB... but other folks want the basic 25 or so fields for an asset, along with respective software installed on them (Software is also a CI - a CI isn't just hardware).  So, Lansweeper feeds the CMDB with software too.  This is great for Service Management and Change Control, but as you know, for sysadmins and helpdesk engineers, lansweeper is super useful for ITAM (IT Asset Management) and Compliance.  I typed a lot, I hope that makes sense.  Again, each ITSM administrator has different opinions on what they want in their CMDB - some want everything, and others just want minimum info because they will use Lansweeper for further details.  Mr - I know you're technical and on-prem so this should help: https://help.ivanti.com/ch/help/en_US/CSM/10.4/documentation_bundle/mapps_and_integrations/csm_inter...
