Hello,

Has anyone used OT scanner centrally to discover OT devices behind a router?

If I use the default setting in "scan targets", I cannot see icmp or other L3/4 protocols being transmitted from the sensors interface (only arp).

HI @Kumppis

The OT scanner in Lansweeper can be used to discover OT devices behind a router. However, you may need to adjust your scan target settings if you only see ARP traffic and not ICMP or other Layer 3/4 protocols. The default settings might not be sufficient for your network configuration, and you may need to use the advanced flow to customize the scan targets and protocol configurations.

To address the issue of not seeing ICMP or other Layer 3/4 protocols, you can follow these steps:

  1. Access the OT Interface: Use the Lansweeper Network Discovery Hub shortcut on your desktop and log in with the Built-in Admin Login.
  2. Advanced Flow:
    • Go to the Scan Targets page.
    • Click Add New to create a new scan target and select the Advanced options.
    • If you have multiple sensors, select the appropriate sensor.
    • Enter a unique name for the new scan target.
    • Specify the IP address or IP range you want to scan.
    • Select a scan schedule from the Schedules menu.
    • Choose one or multiple protocol configurations from the Protocols menu.
    • Save the new scan target.

By customizing the protocol configurations, you can ensure the scanner uses the necessary protocols to discover devices behind a router.
