Custom asset data in Lansweeper is one of the most flexible ways to tailor the platform to your organization’s specific needs. You can use custom asset data to add context to your assets with extra fields, customized groups and relationships, or entire categories that are not available in Lansweeper by default.
Custom asset data types
Custom asset data includes all manually defined information about your assets, such as:
Groups: Arrange an assortment of assets together to form a group.
IP locations: IP locations allow you to group assets based on their IP address range.
States: States allow you to create a custom status for machines in your network.
Types: Types allow you to create a custom asset type for machines in your network.
Custom fields: Fields that are reserved for you to enter information about your assets.
Asset relations: Create and define relationships between assets and users by linking them.
Create a group
Go to Assets > Categorization > Groups.
Select Create group.
Enter the name of the group.
Select or search for an icon to represent the group.
Select Create.
Create an IP location
Go to Assets > Categorization > IP locations.
Select Create IP location.
Enter the name of the IP location.
Select the installation the IP location is part of.
Choose the IP range input method:
Enter the IP information for your input method in the required fields.
Select Create.
Create a state
Go to Assets > Categorization > States.
Select Create state.
Enter the name of the state.
Select Create.
Create a type
Go to Assets > Categorization > Types.
Select Create type.
Enter the name of the type.
Select or search for an icon to represent the group.
Select Create.
Create a custom field
Go to Assets > Fields > Custom fields.
Select Create a custom field.
Enter the name of the new custom field.
Select the Type of custom field you’d like to create. Your custom field may also require you to enter Selectable options or Currency, depending on the type of field you create.
Enter the Field description.
Select Create.
Create a relation type
Go to Assets > Relations.
Select Create relation type.
Enter the name of the type.
Enter the reverse name of the type.
Select or search for an icon to represent the type.
Select Create.
In a one-to-one relation, the name of a relation between two assets or users from the perspective of the second connected asset or user
